This course is presented by Cypress Creek EMS and is designed to train the public safety cyclist (Police\/EMS) to work in crowd control situations. Required Documents<\/strong><\/p>\n PARQ and Medical Clearance Form<\/a><\/p>\n BRT Equipment List<\/a><\/p>\n The Bicycle Response Team (BRT) training will prepare bike officers, and bike medics, in Crowd Management Operations<\/em>. Practical exercises involve riding\u00a0and deploying in formations, team riding in crowds, arrest\/rescue techniques, gas mask operations, slow speed skills, mounts and dismounts.\u00a0 The student will also, learn how to use the bike as another tool in dealing with crowd management and crowd control incidents.<\/p>\n The majority of situations a BRT unit is deployed are hostile and what is considered to be an \u201cUnsecure Scene\u201d for EMS.\u00a0\u00a0This results in delaying patient care to an injured innocent party and\/or officer.\u00a0\u00a0This specialized training will allow the medic to integrate into the BRT, positioning them to be able to provide lifesaving interventions at the \u201cPoint of Wounding\u201d<\/em>.\u00a0\u00a0The primary purpose would be Force Protection, the health and wellness of the BRT members.\u00a0\u00a0Minimizing the delay in patient care could mean the difference between life and death for the officer.\u00a0\u00a0The immediate access to medical care for an injured subject will also limit liability to individual officers and the department.<\/p>\n Course Length:<\/strong> minimum 24 hours<\/p>\n Testing Procedure:<\/strong> written & on-bike<\/p>\n Requirements:<\/strong> Applicants must be IPMBA Public Safety Cyclists currently assigned to bike patrol, officers applying to become members of a bike unit, or members of a department considering use of the bicycle.<\/p>\n Certification:<\/strong> Certification is available to IPMBA Public Safety Cyclists who successfully complete the practical test, earn a score of 76% or better on the written test.<\/p>\n Cost: $200.00<\/strong> – includes IPMBA membership, certificate, and course text “Complete Guide to Public Safety Cycling”<\/p>\n Deposit Amount: $150.00<\/strong> paid by cash, department issued check, M\/O, credit card or company Purchase Order.<\/p>\n Deposit Policy:<\/strong> Please understand that Cypress Creek EMS and the Cypress Creek Advanced Tactical Team are 501 c (3) non-profit corporations. Class size is kept to a specific level to maximize the student to instructor ratio, which is for the benefit of their students; therefore, no reservation will be held and you will not be registered for the class until a deposit has been received.<\/p>\n Refund Policy:<\/strong> If your class is canceled, your deposit is fully refundable.
